Gerald K. Freedman
January 28, 1927 - May 28, 2023
Gerald Kenneth Freedman was currently residing in Silver Spring, MD at Leisure World. He was formerly of Buffalo & Williamsville, NY and Hallandale, FL. After serving in the Army Air Force during World War II and being awarded the WWII Victory Medal, Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal, and Philippines Independence Metal, he returned to the US and received his accounting degree at University of Buffalo. His father, Max Freedman, hired him to work and manage the business operations at Kaufman's Bakery as Comptroller, which he did until 1983. He then moved to Florida and started a new career as a stockbroker until he retired and moved to Maryland in 2018. He was a member of The Grand Lodge as a Mason for 65 years. He is survived by his loving wife Marlene Celniker Freedman of 67 years; his daughter Jill (Dr. Michael) Weinstein, son Marc (Sheri) Freedman, son Dr. David (Amy) Freedman, son Philip (Ronn Glanz) Freedman; his grandchildren Matt (Jenni) Weinstein, Jason Weinstein, Zach (Emilie) Weinstein, Hallie (Vlad) Bulkin, Max Freedman, Bonnie (Mark) Lessans, Daniel (Daniel Tubul) Freedman, Molly (Carson) Addington; his great grandchildren: Jordan and Noah Weinstein, Sophie, Madden and Ellie Lessans, and Lily and Mia Bulkin. An entombment will be held Sunday, June 4th, 12 noon at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Buffalo, NY. Donations in Gerald’s memory may be made to Temple Beth Zion c/o The Max and Mollie Freedman Fund or to a charity of one’s choice.
The family will be receiving friends on Saturday, June 3rd at the Buffalo Marriott Niagara, 1340 Millersport Hwy., Amherst, NY 14221 from 7-11pm in Ballroom 1. Light refreshments will be served.
