Virginia Ann Ellis (nee Amram)

March 31, 1934 – October 9, 2024

Of Town of Tonawanda, NY; beloved wife of the late Maxwell E. Ellis; sister of the late Barbara Hayman; loving mother of Pamela (James) Meltzer, Richard A. Ellis and James H. (late Catherine) Ellis; grandmother of Richard A Ellis Jr., Elizabeth A. (Joseph) Barbato and the late Benjamin James Ellis; step grandmother of Sarah (Austin) Littenberg; aunt of Mark Hayman (Mark Penny); also survived by many relatives and friends.  Known as “Miss Virginia,” Ginny worked until the age of 85 as a retail manager at Goodwill Industries of WNY.  She also worked at Retap Thrift Store, as well as LL Bergers during her teen years and again later in life until the store closed in the 1980s. Virginia graduated from Buffalo Seminary in 1952 and went to Syracuse University where she was named Winter Carnival Queen. She graduated from Medaille College in 1988 with an associate’s degree in science. Virginia loved her grandchildren, chocolate, gardening, walks through her neighborhood, knitting, her golden retrievers, saying “we’ll see” and Ginny slices. A Graveside Service will be held Friday, October 11, 2024 at 2PM at Forest Lawn Cemetery. Please assemble at the Delaware-Delavan gate at 1:45PM. Friends and family are invited to Virginia’s home through Sunday. Donations in Virginia’s memory may be made to Hospice of Buffalo, Buffalo Seminary or a charity of your choice.
