Herbert Ralph Weiss
April 13, 1940 – November 14, 2024
Herbert Weiss, known as Herbie to all who loved him, was born in Buffalo, NY as the only son to the late Nathan and Jeannette Weiss. On May 12, 1963, he married the love of his life, Rosalind (“Roz”). Herb and Roz shared 61 years of a marriage and life together. Their mutual love for travel took them across the globe, creating unforgettable memories together and with their cherished friends and family.
Herb and Roz built a beautiful family together, with their daughters Maxine (Dr. Steven) Awner and Patrice (Douglas) Bruce. From Presidents Walk to Timberlane Drive, the house they shared was always filled with people, food, and laughter.
Herb’s passion for people and kindness translated to his work, spending 35 years at Merrill Lynch as a Financial Advisor. He is a graduate of Bennett High School and the SUNY University at Buffalo, obtaining a degree in Accounting and started his career at the IRS. Trusted by his colleagues and clients, Herb was always known to go out of his way to help friends and strangers alike. He was a trusted friend, brilliant advisor, and a Mensch. Everyone who had the privilege of knowing and working alongside Herb spoke of him with the deepest admiration and respect.
A lifelong Buffalo Bills fan, Herbie was a season ticket holder for 45 years. He instilled this love into his whole family and never missed a game, whether it was in the stands or on the TV. His summers consisted of playing golf, lounging in the pool with his grandchildren, and spending time with his friends from the Buffalo and Boca communities.
To his four beloved grandchildren, Harleigh, Morgan, Nathan, and Sofia, he was known as Popi. Popi was loved dearly by his four grandchildren and could be counted on to sneak them extra candies and cookies when Bubbie (Roz) was not looking. They have cherished memories of Popi; spending weekends at the pool on Timberlane Drive, sharing hotdogs at Ted’s and ice cream at Andersons, and enjoying days at Sugar Sand Park and Wakodahatchee Wetlands in Florida.
Herbie will be missed by all who loved him dearly. A Funeral Service will be held Monday, November 18, 2 PM at Temple Beth Tzedek, 1641 N. Forest Rd., Williamsville 14221. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Buffalo Hadassah, Temple Beth Tzedek or the Alzheimer’s Association. Shiva will be held Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday, 7 – 9 PM at Canterbury Woods (Trafalgar entrance), Williamsville 14221. Arrangements by MESNEKOFF FUNERAL HOME.
