The Mesnekoffs have been associated with the funeral business industry since 1935, when Nathan Mesnekoff started his first funeral home. In 1952 Nathan built Delaware Park Memorial Chapel where he was joined by his son Melvyn. In 1983, Melvyn's son Jay joined the firm. 

Mesnekoff Funeral Home, Inc. is located in suburban East Amherst, New York. It is independently owned and operated by Jay L. Mesnekoff. Our facility is over 8,000 square feet and Mesnekoff Funeral Home caters specifically to the Jewish community.

We work closely with the local Chevra Kadisha, and follow all necessary Jewish customs if so desired. We handle chapel, graveside and temple services. Our facility is conveniently located near all local temples and cemeteries. Live streaming is available for any type of service.

Mesnekoff Funeral Home works closely with different aftercare programs through the local temples and through Jewish Family Services. Jay is a licensed funeral director in Florida and New York State.

Jay Mesnekoff is a member of The New York State Funeral Directors Association and KAVOD - The National Independent Jewish Funeral Chapels. Jay is a past President of KAVOD - The National Independent Jewish Funeral Directors, in addition to various boards and committees and belongs to a local Masonic lodge.

Maggie Early attended the fall meeting of KAVOD Independent Jewish Funeral Chapels. The meeting was held October 20th & 21st in conjunction with this year’s National Funeral Directors Association conference in New Orleans, LA. Members of KAVOD (pictured above) gathered for dinner at Bourbon House.


The recently opened National Cemetery near us in Corfu, NY. We are proud to serve veterans and their families.


On Sunday, August 11, 2024, Jay went on a private walking tour of the Jewish Cemeteries on Pine Ridge Heritage Blvd in Cheektowaga. This tour was sponsored by the Buffalo Jewish Federation Cemetery Corp. in partnership with Explore Buffalo.

On Sunday, May 5, 2024, Jay and Rebecca Mesnekoff attended Temple Beth Zion’s Stained Glass Series commemorating Yom HaShoah, Holocaust Remembrance Day. This musical event paid tribute to the lost Jewish communities of Czechoslovakia. The quartet included cellist and TBZ member, Roman Mekinulov; violinist, Andrea Cone; violist, Joshua Lohner; and violinist, Xiaofan Liu.


On Friday, May 10, 2024, we celebrated the installmant of Rabbi Sara Rich at Temple Beth Tzedek. Rabbi Rachel Isaacs from Waterville, Maine who is a colleague and close friend of Rabbi Sara was the Klein Scholar in Residence and performed the installation. A beautiful evening was had by all.


Jay Mesnekoff attended the biannual meeting of KAVOD Independent Jewish Funeral Chapels. The meeting was held April 13-15th in New York City. On March 14, 2024, we were honored to participate in a genizah (burial of sacred objects) held by Temple Beth Zion at their cemetery on Pine Ridge Heritage Boulevard in Cheektowaga.
